  • For the fiscal year 2024–2025, the Assam government presented a budget of Rs 2.9 lakh crore, with a ₹774.47 crore deficit and no additional taxes envisaged.
  • With an estimated expenditure of Rs 2,88,560.71 crore, the GSDP is predicted to increase from Rs 5.7 lakh crore in 2023–24 to Rs 6.43 lakh crore.
  • The 2024–25 budget estimates forecast receipts of Rs 2, 90,155.65 crore, of which Rs 1, 43,605.56 crore comes from the State’s Consolidated Fund.

  • Up to 15% of the loan, above the 85% CGTMSE assurance, is guaranteed.
  • The State Government shall pay the CGTMSE’s annual guarantee charge.
  • The State Government will pay the whole interest on the loan.
  • This loan will not require any collateral or processing fees.
  • The concerned bank or financial institution will specify a moratorium term that may range from three to six months within the repayment period of four years.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

The applicants applying for Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant’s age must be between 18 and 35 years
  • The maximum age limit for candidates who fall under the SC, ST, or PwD categories shall be 40 years old.
  • Families covered by the KALIA/BSKY Scheme or those with annual incomes under Rs. 2 lakh.
  • The applicant needs to have a UDYAM-supported number or be registered.

Applicants’ Excluded from Assam Punya Tirtha Yojana

The applicants that are excluded from the scheme are as follows:

  • Employees and their families who work for the state, central, or any PSU or legislative body.
  • Defaulter in any bank or financial institution or possessing an outstanding loan from any Central or State Government Scheme intended for the same purpose.

Assam Punya Tirtha Scheme Implementation

The following methods will be used to put the plan into action:

  • The applicant will use a special webpage to register and submit their application to the Bank.
  • Alternatively, the applicant may use Mo-Seva Kendra’s services to apply online.
  • Upon application receipt, document and field verification will be carried out by the beneficiary’s designated bank.
  • The bank will help the applicant prepare the necessary simplified DPR during field verification to approve the loan.
  • After approval and the applicant’s deposit of margin funds, the banks will release the loan amount to the applicant. A committee will be established at the State, District, and Block levels to oversee the Scheme’s efficient execution.
