On August 25, the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor’s office restricted Union Territory residents exclusively from receiving land under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) program for the needy. A person shall be deemed landless if he is a domicile of J&K has a separate family, does not have land in his own name or in the name of any of his family members, or is not entitled to inherit five Marlas or more land. J&K Land for Landless Scheme 2024

The allocation of 5 Marla land to PMAY beneficiaries who are landless has been ordered by the government of Jammu and Kashmir. The government of Jammu and Kashmir is providing 5 Marla land under this program to those who do not currently own homes so they can construct their ideal residences. On June 21, 2024, the Administrative Council of Jammu and Kashmir made this significant choice. The third phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be made available to Jammu and Kashmir’s beneficiaries who have been left out or who do not own their own home but want to apply for this program.

Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor, stated that it was a historic day for Jammu Kashmir and a new beginning for thousands of landless families.   • The UT administration gave approval to the allocation of five Marla of state land on a lease basis in favor of landless PMAY (G)/Awas plus beneficiaries in a set of guidelines published by the Revenue Department.
  • The qualified recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) would receive the 5 marla free land.

  • This program is open to anyone who resides on state property
  • Those who reside on farmland are eligible
  • Families who live in the forest
  • Those who reside on custodian land are eligible
  • Land allocated to displaced people close to Dachi Village Park where the government has not given the go-light for construction
  • In J&K, there are housing options for everyone who does not own a home
