Punjab Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana
The scheme was announced by the Chief Minister of Punjab. The main motive through the implementation of the scheme is to provide cashless treatment to all of the residents of Punjab state. The cashless treatment will be provided to the poor people of the state so that they can go to the hospital for their checkups and also undergo surgeries without any financial worries. Also, yearly incentives are provided under the scheme.
Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana 8 Mobile Teams To Make E-Cards
As you all know that under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana beneficiaries can get treatment in 200 Government and 767 private hospitals free of cost up to Rs 500000 per year. A meeting was conducted by deputy commissioner Sandeep Hans on 6 February 2021 with the officials of the civil supply department, labour department, Punjab Mandi board excise department and taxation department. In this meeting, he has discussed e-cards. Now E-Cards will make of all the eligible beneficiaries.
- In this meeting, it has also decided that the benefit of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana will provide to Blue cardholders, J Farms, small traders and journalists.
- In order to implement this scheme, 8 mobile teams will create Ecards of all the beneficiaries in collaboration with the labour Department, civil supply department, Punjab Mandi board excise department and taxation department.
- At the meeting, several other dignitaries like Deputy medical commissioner, labour inspector, pharmacy officer etc were also present.

Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana Cards
All those residents who have smart ration cards, labourers registered And the labour Department, farmers recognised and yellow card holder journalists, excise and small traders registered in the tax Department etc will be provided with the benefit of Sehat Sarbat Bima Yojana. They will get cashless treatment up to 5 lakh rupees. For availing of the benefit, the beneficiaries require to make cards. With the help of these cards, they will get cashless treatment. They have to show these cards in the hospital at the time of treatment and the hospital is going to provide them cashless treatment up to Rs 500000. These cards will make service centres by paying fees of Rs 30.
Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana Service Centres
The cards under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana will make in the service centres. The service of making cards will be available from February 17 at Type 1 service centre, from February 22 at the type 2 service centre and from February 26 at the type 3 service centre and apart from the service centres, the card making service will be available from the common service centres also. These cards will make from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on working days. If the beneficiaries require any further information regarding Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana then they can contact the helpline number of the Health Department that is 104. Till now under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana 1,29,274 cards have made. The work to cover maximum beneficiaries under this scheme is under process.
Achievements Of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana
- Till now 46 lakh E-cards have issued.
- Under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana 3.80 lakh patients have treated.
- The government of Punjab has spent rupees 453 crore rupees on the scheme
- Under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana 767 hospitals are empanelled
- Till now more than 6600 heart surgeries have taken place, 3900 joint replacement have taken place, 9000 cancer treatment has been done and 96000 dialyses have taken place
- The treatment of covid-19 has also covered under the scheme.
- Under this scheme, health insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh per beneficiary family has offered
- The number of health packages has increased from 1393 to 1579.
Incentives Under Sarbat Sehat Yojana
Incentives will provide to the poor families of Punjab state. Some of the finalized benefits for these people are as follows:-
- A cashless health insurance cover of Rs 5 Lakh per family per year so, that they can overcome their burden of financial worries.
- There are 1396 packages for Cashless secondary care & tertiary care treatment in public & empanelled private hospitals of Punjab & Chandigarh
- There are 124 packages reserve for Government Hospitals
- A treatment package of 3 days’ pre-hospitalization and 15 days’ post-hospitalization expenditure are available.

- NFSA Ration Card- 14.86 Lakh under SECC and 20.43 Lakh Smart Ration Card Holders
- Construction Worker- 2.38 lakh construction workers under construction welfare board
- Small Traders- 0.46 lakh families under the Excise & Taxation Department, Government of Punjab
- J-Form Farmers- 4.94 lakh J-Form holder farmers under Punjab Mandi Board, Government of Punjab
- Small and Marginal Farmers- 2.76 lakh Small and Marginal farmers under Punjab Mandi Board, Government of Punjab
- Journalist- 4700 Accredited and Yellow cardholder Journalist under PUNMEDIA, Government of Punjab
Eligibility Criteria for Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana
The common eligibility criteria to avail the benefit of the scheme are as follows:-
- The applicant must be a resident of Punjab state
- The applicant must belong to the categories mentioned above.
- Applicant must belong to below the poverty line category.
- The applicant must hold a ration card.
Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana Registration Process
There is no registration process for the beneficiaries. The selected list has been prepared by the concerned authorities on the basis of the people who are below the poverty line and some of the ration cardholders and also as per the different categories of the beneficiary which is mentioned above.
